Course Outline and Benefits
Diving on wrecks is consistently near the top of the list whenever you ask a diver what their favourite type of dives are, but it can also be one of the most challenging environments due to the nature of what you are exploring. Each shipwreck offers up something unique. Learn safe and responsible wreck diving practices and don't take anything home, except great memories or photographs.
The best way to become competent in beginning to explore shipwrecks is to complete the PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course.
Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded the PADI Wreck Diver certification card which  enables you to plan and execute safe dives on and around wrecks.
You may also apply for the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating if you are a PADI Rescue Diver or have a qualifying certification from another organisation with certification in four other PADI Specialty ratings.
Course Requirements
- Aged over 15 years.
- PADI Adventure Diver.
- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or an equivalent certification.
Course Itinerary
The course consists of some knowledge development sessions led by a video and course manual in conjunction with the instructor's explanations.
There are four open water training dives, the last one being an optional penetration dive. If you don't wish to actually enter the wreck, there is no requirement for you to do so, however, if you do, this dive will focus on how to do so safely and efficiently.
You will cover topics such as recognizing and avoiding potential hazards, planning wreck dives and elements of research into wrecks and their history.
